Mid Year Reading Progress & Favourites so far!

mid year reading progress

So this post kind of links with last week’s resolutions update, because the second it hits mid year I wonder to myself HOW AM I DOING WITH MY READING CHALLENGES? I don’t know why, it’s just satisfying to see. Plus I can use it to totally justify any book buying I’m about to do…maybe…

shh.

Let’s have a peep at my reading progress!

The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon | A dark mystery encased in a love for books

The Shadow of the Wind

This book was a reread for me – in the form of a buddy read. Both myself and Amy @ ShoutAme felt we needed to read this book, with it being a favourite of ours, and so June brought that reread along. I was slightly paranoid that I wouldn’t enjoy it as much as the original time I read it, since I couldn’t remember a thing and my tastes have changed a lot, but…well, you’ll see from this review how it went.

Night by Elie Wiesel | How a little book can say it all…

Night

I finally read the nonfiction book that has been on my radar for years. Quite randomly, actually. I wanted a really quick one evening, and since this was the shortest book on my shelves at that point, I picked it up.

Reading Resolution: An Update | Ohhhhh, we’re halfway there…

resolutions update

SO. We’ve reached the halfway point guys. 2017 is whizzing right past faster than we can blink. Where does that leave us?

Well, I don’t know about you, it’s left me stranded in a random month wondering where the other months went. It’s rather bewildering.

But at the start of the year, I set myself some reading resolutions. And while it seemed to be going well at the start, they might have just…fizzled out a bit. As resolutions tend to do. Maybe.

Shall we find out?

Β Another DNF? I must have a veil of scrutiny covering me. Why am I not so easily impressed anymore?

Collective Book Haul – April & May |Gotta get those spring reads in

collective book haul

So I thought to myself the other day “Ashleigh, it’s been freakin’ AGES since you did a book haul on your blog. Sort yourself out.” They’re just easier to do on my booktube channel, and so somehow I’ve neglected to add them here too.

But NOT TODAY MY FRIENDS. Because here I’m bringing you my collective book haul. Like I did on my last haul, I’ll link my video at the start of the list, since that’s where I explain where I got the books from and any thoughts I have on them, but if you can’t watch the video (or simply don’t want to *cries*Β (just kidding)), all the books will be listed below as their own haul!

Here’s my spring book haul!

P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han | I was probably way too cynical for this level of cringe

PS I Still love you

I…don’t think this was the right time for me to read this book. I mean, I thought it was, because I wanted a light quick read and this seemed to be the one. But…maybe not.

SPQR by Mary Beard | So much to learn, so much to read…and I loved every second

SPQR

The sudden need to learn about ancient civilisations and expand my history further than the World Wars hit me HARD in May. And so here we are, with a huge chunk of a nonfiction book about ancient Rome.
