April Book Haul – So Much For That Book Buying Ban!

April haul

At the start of the month I said to myself “I’m on a book buying ban for April because I’ve gotten so many books since December.”

As time went on, I realized one of my most anticipated releases came out at the end of the month. So this went from no books to “I’ll make an exception for THAT ONE BOOK.”

And then April actually started and I ended up getting 6 books. And a half. Kind of (you’ll see what I mean).

So here’s my failed book buying ban – otherwise known as a haul!

The Paper Magician by Charlie N. Holmberg…Not Really Feeling It…

*All reviews I write are spoiler free*

I’ve never known it take me so long to read a book that’s only 200 pages long.

I did pick this one up on purpose – I’ve had a very busy week of redecorating my room and keeping up with my Final Major Project at college, so I wanted something short, so I was guaranteed to finish it.

So let’s talk about The Paper Magician!

Discussion Posts: Reading Different Genres

different genres.PNG

So this is a topic I actually find quite interesting, as random as it is.

Reading different genres of books.

I’ve noticed that more people are trying this lately, so I’ve decided that this week’s post can be about sharing your experience with book genres.

So let’s talk about reading different book genres!

Harry Potter Book Tag

harry potter tag

First of all, sorry there wasn’t a new post yesterday! I’ve spent this weekend completely repainting my bedroom, along with most of the furniture inside it, so I had to skip a day of blogging. I mean, even after I write this, I’m going back to paint the final wall. I haven’t even done that much reading this weekend either, but I’ll class this as a weekend off (though it feels like I’ve done more work than ever).

Anyway, thanks to absolutely everything in my room being cleared out and scattered around the rest of the house, I’ve no idea where my notebook for post ideas has gone, so today I’m doing a tag!

And a very exciting tag, indeed.

BECAUSE HARRY POTTER.

I’ve been in SUCH a Harry Potter mood lately. I’m in the process of rereading the series (one book each month) and I preordered Cursed Child on Thursday. So this tag fits perfectly with my mood.

I was tagged by Quirky book nerd  and A Stranger’s Guide To Novels (thank you!!) to do this wonderful tag created by  Trang and Lashaan @ Bookidote.  The one rule: You can’t use any of the Harry Potter books for an answer.

So instead of rambling even more, let’s begin!

Wondering what’s going on with Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge

cruel beauty

*All reviews I write are spoiler free*

Now with this book, you’d think it’d be proof that I’m catching up on the books I got for Christmas. But I can assure you, I’m not even close yet. I have wayyyyy too many books to catch up on over the past few months.

But at least this is a step in the right direction!

I didn’t actually expect to pick this one up anytime soon, but I’m in a weird book mood. I don’t feel like reading anything, but I still want to read. I’m just finding it really difficult to choose books, because I’m not in the mood for anything. I wouldn’t call it a reading slump, but it’s as close to an explanation I’ll get. But anyway, this caught my eye for the longest while choosing, so this one I have to review today.

So let’s talk about Cruel Beauty!

*sorry for the poor quality photo. It was taken late at night rather than in one of my usual photoshoots.*

Here we have another one of those spontaneous blog posts when an exciting bookish reveal has been made while I’m actually around to write a post about it.

So this time, we have one of my favourite series: A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC by V.E. Schwab.

And this time, we have a title reveal.

We can finally stop calling the third book ADSOM3!

So what’s the title of the third book? I here you ask…

Another week, another discussion post!

Though this week’s topic isn’t a “serious” topic, I still think people have a lot to say when it comes to this.

Plus we need a light-hearted topic every so often, right?

So…writing in books. Do you do it?

I’ve seen this sort of post everywhere, and personally I love them, so I decided to make my own.

I’ve put together a few tips on how I personally add more reading into my life, so hopefully there will at least be a few that are different, interesting, or helpful.

Like I said, these tips are what I do myself, but maybe they’ll help you guys, or give you a bit of inspiration 🙂
