Seasons of Book Blogging

Hello!

I’ve been tagged in so many posts lately, which is why there’s been an increase of posts from me this week. Hope you don’t mind!

Astra @ A Stranger’s Guide to Novels tagged me to do the Seasons of Book Blogging book tag, so thank you, and here it is!

How this works:

  • Thank the creator (so she can see all of your answers!) and the person who tagged you.
  • Begin with the month in which you have been tagged and move forward from there!
  • State the best gift you’ve ever been given after you answer the question for your birthday month.
  • Tag whomever you’d like when you’re finished.. or else you’ll be “it” forever.
  • Have fun, of course!

So let’s do this!

November is the month when we’re reminded of how much we have to be thankful for. Choose one book you’re grateful for having read and give a shout-out to the person who recommended it!

The Night Circus

I’m sorry for mentioning this so often lately but I’m just in the kind of mood for this book and I’m really looking forward to rereading it in December (closer to Christmas). The person who recommended it to me is a friend from a few years ago…thank you friend!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
December is a time when friends and families come together and celebrate. Name one book you would give as a gift.
Cinder
I chose Cinder by Marissa Meyer because I actually am giving it as a gift this year, to one of my friends 😀
Plus fairy-tale retellings mixed with SciFi…who wouldn’t be intrigued?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

January begins a new year. Name a resolution you made this year and if you’ve kept it or not!

OK so ever since I was young I’ve had this bad habit of biting my nails, and I hate it. Every year my resolution is to stop this…I have yet to succeed.

Also I had one about books. Now, most people would say “stop buying so many books“. But that won’t do for me. My resolution was to buy more books – I want to build my paper kingdom up. I am glad to say I achieved that one!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
February is the month for relationships. Name your favorite book relationship: romantic, platonic, or familial, your choice!
bone season
I was going to choose Throne of Glass but I thought I’d change it up a bit and choose a different favourite. I love all the relationships in this book, whether good or bad. But I can’t really explain why. Something to do with the positions of authority, along with personal relations.
Also – this is my birthday month, and as it states above, you need to tell what the best birthday present you’ve been gifted was. I can’t think of anything off the top of my head so I’ll just go with a book, because I appreciate it SO much when people get me books and I can cross another off my “to buy” list!
March is the month for luck and new beginnings. Name a book or series that you would like to re-experience as if you’d never read it
harry potter philosophers stone
I apologize for the obvious answer, but I just had to.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

April is a spectacularly ordinary month. Name a book that was so over-hyped that it just could not live up to your expectations.

This was on my shelves for about 2 years before I decided to give it a chance. i’m not that into contemporary at all, so I was already hesitant. Mix that with the hype and BOOM – you have high expectations. But no…

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it to some extent. It was alright. Just not ABSOLUTELY AMAZING like everyone was making out.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
May is the month when the flowers start to bloom. Name a book that was a pleasant surprise to you.
illuminae
Since I’m only just getting into SciFi, I didn’t know if I would love or hate this book. I thought the science talk might overwhelm me. But nope, not at all! I loved it!
I wrote a review about how much I loved it, so if you haven’t already seen that and would like to, click here!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

June is the time to take a break. Name a book or genre that you like to read when you just need to check out.

Fantasy, without a doubt. I mean, I know I read it all the time, but I just know that’s what I love. Nearly all my favourite books are fantasy!

But NOT the fantasy as in vampires and werewolves. No no no. Fantasy as in magic and stunning places and most often a medieval type theme going on because electricity isn’t a thing and they have to walk around with candles.

(I’m really selling this genre to you, aren’t I?)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
July is the time to celebrate your independence! Name a book that made you see fireworks. (Figuratively. Please don’t light books on fire.
Heir of fire
Made me see fireworks? Um…Ok. I’m just going to guess that means it was really good and made your imagination jump all over the place (like fireworks).
I’ve read this twice now and both times I just sped through it because of all the action. All the events and twists going off like fireworks.
P.S. Should have known I was going to get the Throne of Glass series in somewhere. I did try not to. I swear. Just couldn’t think of another answer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

August is the hottest month of the year. Pick an up-and-coming author that you think will be the next hottest thing.

The dead house

Dawn Kurtagich!

This is the first book I read by her, and she started of my hunt for books that are formatted differently (like Illuminae). I loved this book, and even though I’ve seen a gradual increase of the amount of people who’s read it, I think she’s going to keep growing because not enough people have read this book.

Also she has another book coming out soon, so I’m predicting that will kick everything off!

If you haven’t already and would like to, you can read my review for The Dead House here!

September is time for students to go back to school! Pick a book you read for school that you actually enjoyed.

jane eyre

Not technically school but for my college course last year I had to read Jane Eyre, and I did end up enjoying it. I’ve not read that many classics, but this made me pick up a few others and try them out.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
October is time to celebrate Halloween! Pick one character that you would love to dress up as for Halloween.
Hermione Granger
(The photo is a drawing I did a while back of Hermione)
I always used to try and dress up as Hermione Granger. I have poofy uncontrollable hair and a love for reading, so why not?
I feel like I still would dress up as her, but in a more realistic way. Like, get the robes and everything.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I tag…

(and as always, I’ll tag the “about” page so they get a notification)

Georgia @ Books and Other Miracles

Catia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much

Cathy @ Bookishfall

Marian @ Bookception21

And of course, you don’t have to do this tag if you don’t want to!
